Byrns March was found in O’Farrell’s Pocket Companion. As family name spelling was fairly fungible, we include it here in honor of Alison's mom Cheryl (né Burns). Johnny Cope is a fairly well-known tune these days, and we both first heard it from Planxty (where it was played in B). We've played this together for many years, and in fact in lieu of a first dance this was our "first tune" at our wedding.

Nick's settings and playing of these old tunes on his instrument are just superb. When I first saw his track list I was shocked, He had found more tracks from Oscar and Malvina than I had in years of searching. This album remains a musical and academic delight! Wetootwaag

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman

Fiddle player Caitlin Finley played for us back in the day at the Coatesville Traditional Irish Music Series. It took a while to find out she’d made a CD with flute & piano (also piccolo, pipes & melodeon) accompaniment but it was worth the wait! Check it out. Will Woodson & Chris Stevens are standouts, too. It’s nice to find a contemporary Irish CD I like start to finish. Frank Dalton
