The first jig is from Early. McFadden didn't read music and would learn tunes from Early that Early got from manuscripts, an arrangement that we also share; so it seemed fitting that Alison should play this one on her own. The second tune is from McFadden, and is related to the Lark's March and the Lark in the Morning.

Nick's settings and playing of these old tunes on his instrument are just superb. When I first saw his track list I was shocked, He had found more tracks from Oscar and Malvina than I had in years of searching. This album remains a musical and academic delight! Wetootwaag

Absolutely sensational - love the generally low-end tones and planxty-esque set up, but most of all the incredible energy of it! Wish more instrumental trad was like this, love the fact that it's recorded live too. Prangman

Fiddle player Caitlin Finley played for us back in the day at the Coatesville Traditional Irish Music Series. It took a while to find out she’d made a CD with flute & piano (also piccolo, pipes & melodeon) accompaniment but it was worth the wait! Check it out. Will Woodson & Chris Stevens are standouts, too. It’s nice to find a contemporary Irish CD I like start to finish. Frank Dalton
